Turn Shape

Turn shape refers to how sharply you turn, and how long you keep turning.  Those two components of turn shape are referred to as radius and degree of turn.  Skiers who can skilfully manage their turn shape are able to control their speed and route of travel down the mountain with great precision.  They can change direction at the drop of a hat, quickly change speed, and easily avoid obstacles that suddenly appear in their path.   Turn shape is a key skill area of expert skiing.
